Fascinating article on the New Christians, the crypto Jews of Portugal. Who lasted with strong traditions until the present. And no pork on the Sabbath was, somewhat bizarrely, one of the traditions they kept.

Was 20% of Portugal really Jewish at the end of the 15th century? Wow, I never heard that figure before.
